Recently, I have been waking up every morning somewhat distressed. Even as I have been keeping up with my daily devotionals into God’s Word, I have been having struggling against bouts of gray moods. I am so tired, physically and even spiritually.
Is all this Bible prophecy real? Is my life that significant? What am I living for? Then today, July 19 2018, I read the news: “Huge Breaking News Out of Israel! Jewish Nation-State Becomes Law!”
My first reaction wasn’t a big one, as I thought it was another one of the hundreds of daily news stories surrounding Israel and the Middle East. But then I read further… as the body of the news made a point that it has been specifically 70 years since the birth of the modern Israeli state that now, Israel has officially become a nation-state through the exclusive Jewish right of self-determination and a list of other legalized rights/declarations. One writer has marked 2018 as the divine restoration of the nation’s identity!
I began to meditate on this news event, as a political event, within the context of prophecy, then meditated some more, and my spirit was lifted as all kinds of inspiration flooded my heart.
Are we the terminal generation that the Jesus spoke of in the book of Matthew?
33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:33-37)
We may not know the exact time of the return of our Lord, but indeed we are to be alert and understand the times we are in – and we are definitely nearing the end of the Church Age, right before His return. But before that, is time of sorrow and tribulation that the world has never known! The word of God is true, and let all believers take heed.
So with all this on this very prophetic, history-marking day, the Lord has reminded me not of despair or distress, but of hope – His Blessed Hope!
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:1-6)
